| | | What is a Site Council? | | At Groveland Park Elementary, all stake holders in our community – principal, staff, parents and community members – can come together to promote the best interest of our students through the cooperative work of our Site Council. Site Council offers an opportunity to help influence and advise the school’s principal concerning aspects of the curriculum, personnel, and budgeting in an effort to promote student achievement. Groveland’s Site Council is made up of the principal, staff, parents and community members.
In recent years, Site Council has been involved in interviewing and recommending principalcandidates, creating a Transitional Language Center and Language Academy at our school, understanding and influencing school funding at the District and State levels, analyzing our school’s test data, and supporting the work to help all of our students grow and learn in many other ways.
Our meetings are always open to the public and we encourage parents and staff to come to meetings even if they are not voting members. We seek to make decisions by consensus whenever possible. We try to post our agenda on the website one week prior to each meeting.
Meetings are from 5:15-7:15PM in the school library (first floor, east end of building). Child care is provided, though we recommend sending a snack or bag supper with your children.
For 2008-2010, Cindy Dawson serves as Staff Co-Chair and Todd O'Bert serves as Parent Co-Chair.
