- Outkick (as found in My Sports) also kick. A kick is a sprint at the end of a running race. To outkick is to go ahead of someone while you are both kicking.
- PR (as found in My Sports) PR is short for perersonal record. This means the fastest race for you of the distance.
- Portage (as found in The Boundary Waters) A portage is a narrow trail from lake to lake in the Boundary Waters. You have to carry all of your gear in packs. Portages are measured in rods. One rod is 16 1/2 feet. There are 320 rods in each mile.
