Johan Santana

I was born on March 13,1979 in Tovar, Merida, State, Venezuela and was the second of five children.  I attended Jordon high where I played baseball as a centerfielder.  I didn’t start to pitch until I was a teenager.  I was noticed by a Houston Astros scout and was told I had an arm to professionally.

I started my baseball career with the Astros.  I made my first major league start on April 7, 2000 and made my first win in relief appearance with Houston, after I was traded to the Marlins then the Twins.

I made my first Major league debut for the Twins on April 3 2001 I signed a five year contract.  I went 8/0 at my chance to be a starter for the Twins.  My biggest win shutout was in 2003.

My start for the 2004 season was a choppy one but I got the hang of it after a while.  In 2004 I became the first pitcher since 1961 to only give up 4hits in 10 starts and led American league in strikeouts.  I won my first CY Young in 2004.  My ERA for the season was 2.61.

In 2006 I won the pitching crown and was given my second CY Young award.  I collected my 1,000th career strikeout in 2006.  After the 2006 season I signed a contract with the New York Mets.  I am the great Johan Santana.
