| | | | | Julie Andrews | | I was born on October 1,1935 in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. I got my first non-speaking role as a fairy at my aunts dance school at the age of 2. My first speaking role was in a production of Winkin, Blinken, and Nod. I took singing lessons with voice instructor Lilian Stiles-Allen. I married Tony Walton on May 5,1959. My daughter Emma Kate Walton was born in London right before I acted in Mary Poppins in 1964. I won an award for best actress for Mary Poppins. I got divorced on November 14,1967 and got remarried to Blake Edwards in 1969. I played the role of Maria von Trapp in The Sound Of Music. I still get in touch with the kids from The Sound Of Music but they are all grown up and have their own kids now. In 1965 I won a Golden Globe Award for The Sound Of Music. I have acted in over 30 movies and plays but in 1997 throat surgery put an end to my singing career and my singing ability never returned. I won a Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award on January 28,2007. I am now 72 years old and I spend most of my time writing books with my daughter Emma. I am Julie Andrews.
