I was born in 1690. I don’t remember what town I was born in though, it might have been London England, Plymouth, or Paris France. I had on brother but he died when I was young. My first job was for a French woman as her footboy. I eventually got bored of the footboy job and joined the military. Then I met a soldier and got married to him. My husband died and I got on a ship to the West Indies.
First our ship was taken by one pirate I can’t recall his name. Then we were taken by Calico Jack his real name is Jack Rackham. I soon became quite good friends with Ann Bonny. After we were taken prisoner I signed on to become a pirate. After awhile on the ship I fell in love with a sailor. He had got in an argument with a different and a dual was set. I knew that the sailor I had fell in love with didn’t stand a chance. So I went and did the same thing he had done I got in an argument with the same pirate and our dual was set for the next night a little earlier then his. I won that dual and when the sailor I loved showed up we got married.
We were captured by Captain Barnet of the British navy. Ann and I tried to defend the ship. We were overpowered though. Our trial was held in Port Royal. I died in prison in 1721 by fever. I was Mary Read.
