Transfusion

transaction (trăn-săk'shən)

1. The act of transacting or the fact of being transacted.
2. Something transacted, especially a business agreement or exchange.
3. Communication involving two or more people that affects all those involved; personal interaction: “a rich sense of the transaction between writer and reader” (William Zinsser).

transportation (trăns'pər-tā'shən)

1. 1. The act or an instance of transporting.
   2. The state of being transported.
2. A means of conveyance.
3. The business of conveying passengers or goods.

supernatural (sū'pər-năch'ər-əl)

1. Of or relating to existence outside the natural world.
2. Attributed to a power that seems to violate or go beyond natural forces.
3. Of or relating to a deity.

supersede (sū'pər-sēd')

1. To take the place of; replace.
2. To cause to be set aside, especially to displace as inferior or antiquated. See synonyms at replace.

superficial (sū'pər-fĭsh'əl)

1. Of, affecting, or being on or near the surface: a superficial wound.
2. Concerned with or comprehending only what is apparent or obvious; shallow.
3. Apparent rather than actual or substantial: a superficial resemblance.

exclaim (ĭk-sklām')

To cry out suddenly or vehemently, as from surprise or emotion: The children exclaimed with excitement.

exclamation (ĕk'sklə-mā'shən)

1. An abrupt, forceful utterance: an exclamation of delight.
2. An outcry, as of protest.
3. Grammar. An interjection.

detain (dĭ-tān')

1. To keep from proceeding; delay or retard.
2. To keep in custody or temporary confinement: The police detained several suspects for questioning. The disruptive students were detained after school until their parents had been notified.

detention (dĭ-tĕn'shən)

1. The act of detaining.
2. The state or a period of being detained, especially:
   1. A period of temporary custody while awaiting trial.
   2. A period of confinement to a detention home.
   3. A form of punishment by which a student is made to stay after regular school hours.
